"A LA RUSSE"

A private residence in the Ethnic Line - Wizhevsky & Partners' design line for homes that translate a specific cultural DNA into architecture without compromise or dilution. "A La Russe" is conceived as cultural export: a traditional Russian log estate built on the African continent, using the noblest softwood available - Angara cedar - as both structure and wellness technology.

Architecture

The building is composed as a classic Russian compound - a main house with steep-pitched roofs, covered porches, and carved timber detailing characteristic of traditional Siberian estate architecture. The form is instantly recognizable: log-on-log construction, ornamental bargeboards, deep window surrounds, and overhanging eaves that protect the walls from weather.

Materials are specified for biological benefit as much as structural integrity:

Angara cedar. Hand-hewn logs from the Angara River basin in Siberia - one of the world's purest softwoods. The heartwood is rich in medicinal resins and phytoncides, which actively disinfect indoor air, providing continuous antibacterial and antiviral protection to the occupants.

Natural wood finishes. No synthetic coatings - the cedar is left to breathe, releasing its volatile compounds into the interior.

Stone foundation. Local stone base adapted to the African climate, elevating the timber structure above ground moisture.

BIO-CIRCUIT Systems - Natural Medicine

Ethnic Line residences integrate the bureau's BIO-CIRCUIT Architecture specification adapted to the specific material properties of the host culture:

The Angara cedar itself forms the primary air quality layer - phytoncide-rich wood actively purifies indoor air without mechanical intervention, reducing respiratory inflammation and supporting immune function.

Supplemental medical-grade air filtration for particulate and allergen control in the African climate.

Multi-stage water filtration and purification.

Tunable circadian lighting calibrated to the equatorial solar curve.

Acoustic isolation within the log envelope, using the mass of the timber itself.

Landscape

The grounds maintain their African character - native vegetation, open views, natural terrain - while the house asserts its Siberian identity within it. The contrast is intentional: cultural confidence expressed without apology in foreign soil.
